«Sing» - official Diamond Jubilee Song

Lyrics
Some words they can’t be spoken only sung
So hear a thousand voices shouting love

There’s a place, there’s a time
In this life when you sing what you are feeling
Find your feet, stand your ground
Don’t you see
Right now the world is listening to what we say

Sing it louder, sing it clearer
Knowing everyone will hear you
Make some noise, find your voice tonight
Sing it stronger, sing together
Make this moment last forever
Old and young
Shouting love tonight

To sing we’ve had a lifetime to wait
And see a thousand faces celebrate

You brought hope, you brought light
Conquered fear, it wasn’t always easy
Stood your ground, kept your faith
Don’t you see
Right now the world is listening to what we say

Sing it louder, sing it clearer
Knowing everyone will hear you
Make some noise, find your voice tonight
Sing it stronger, sing together
Make this moment last forever
Old and young
Shouting love tonight

Some words they can’t be spoken only sung
To hear a thousand voices shouting love
And light and hope

Now sing
Now sing
Now sing
Now sing

Come all and sing
Sing it louder, sing it clearer
Knowing everyone will hear you
Make some noise, find your voice tonight
Sing it stronger, sing together
Make this moment last forever
Old and young
Shouting love tonight

Donna Summer - RIP

Legendary singer Donna Summer, whose powerful voice and string of hit songs like "Bad Girls" and "Hot Stuff" provided the soundtrack for the disco era, died today, her family confirmed. She was 63.
"Early this morning, we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith," family of the singer said in a statement.
"While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy. Words truly can't express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time."
Often called the Queen of Disco, Summer was born LaDonna Adrian Gaines on Dec. 31, 1948, in Boston. She began singing early in the church choir and by her teens had formed several musical groups.
Disco became as much defined by her sultry, sexual vocals -- her bedroom moans and sighs -- as the relentless, pulsing rhythms of the music itself.
Her first album, "Lady of the Night," arrived in 1974 in Europe, and 1975's "Love to Love You Baby" brought her worldwide fame.
In the 1978 disco film "Thank God it's Friday," her song "Last Dance" won Summer her first Grammy.
Unlike some other stars of disco who faded as the music became less popular, Summer was able to grow beyond it and later segued to a pop-rock sound. She had one of her biggest hits in the 1980s with "She Works Hard For The Money," which became another anthem, this time for women's rights.
She was never comfortable with the "Disco Queen" label. Musically, she began to change in 1979 with "Hot Stuff," which had a tough, rock `n' roll beat. Her diverse sound helped her earn Grammy Awards in the dance, rock, R&B and inspirational categories.
She released her last album, "Crayons," in 2008. She also performed on "American Idol" that year with its top female contestants.

Jubilee biscuits set to sell like hot cakes

TRANSCRIPT
REPORTER: The kitchen at Biscuiteers is heating up. The bakery is expecting a sales boom in Diamond Jubilee biscuits as the U.K. catches royal fever. Co-founder Harriet Hastings has created a range of handmade cookies especially for the celebrations.

HARRIET HASTINGS: "There's nothing better than a starting point where you sit down and think about a new collection. I mean we create new collections in our business all the time, seasonally and for all events, but obviously to have such a big event as this, this year, is really good."

REPORTER: Hastings says the royal collections are the most intricate, so they take much longer to produce. And with a kitchen capacity of 30 staff, there's sure to be a lot of overtime.
HARRIET HASTINGS: "What we're trying to do here is to show that you can have a successful - and a volume business actually - based on very old-fashioned, handmade qualities, which I think you can."
REPORTER: The Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations take place from June 2nd to 5th - no doubt with plenty of tea and Jubilee biscuits. Tara Cleary, Reuters.
